Monster Exchange Story

As Zach sat up from his bed, he could hear scratching coming for the closet door, as if nails were being pressed against a chalk board. He cautiously walked toward the door. As he got closer to the closet the scratching stopped, scared Zach stopped as well to see if he could hear anything else. All he could hear was slow deep breathing. Zach continued to tip toe his way across the room, he reached for the door handle and slowly opened it. The room was dark and through a little crack of the opened door, Zach could see a red eye glowing green. He closed the door. Convincing himself that this was all a dream and that none of this was really happening, he opened the door quickly trying to prove to himself that there was nothing behind that door. The same red eye glowing green stared at him but now there were two. In the moonlight he could see something, he thought it was a person; head, arms and hands but there was something red coming out from the head, Zach realized that the human had horns. Zach was so scared and couldn’t move, the creature stretched his arms out to grab Zach, and quickly Zach snapped out of the trance and moved out of the way. As Zach was moving out of the way the creature’s hand swept across his face and all Zach could see were the red tips of his fingers, the creature scratched him. The same claws that scratched the door, just scratched Zach’s face, feeling his face to see the damage, he counted the cuts, 6 scratches. This creature had 6 fingers; Zach realized that this was not a human. Zach tried to run out of the room but before he could start running the creature spread his big blue wings and flew across the room to block the door. The creature flew so fast that his short black hair bent backward, like tall grass bending on a windy day. The creature stood there smiling with his shark like teeth showing. Trying to figure out how to escape, Zach looked around and then back at the creature seeing if he could slide between his legs and out the door. The room was so dark all he could see was the top half of the creature’s body. Zach was stuck.

  1. Nice. It is really scary. I like the description of the hair bending backward like tall grass on a windy day.
